The current buffet has a small offering of items and is very basic. I was surprised the buffet didn't have beef and broccoli on it. I tried most of the items on the buffet and found one or two that were decent enough to fill up on.
So we are crossing Texas and the gas tank says we are stopping in Fort Stockton, so I look on Yelp for somewhere to eat and it comes down to 2. Dragon Buffet wins. So we come inside and surprisingly there are Asians running the restaurant. Not really what we expected. In fact they were like right off the boat Asians that didn't seem to understand English. So like any other buffet there is a hallway with a register to pay first, but they ushered us in to start eating first... okay...
The decor was interesting, they have Asian hand fans on the walls, all with pricetags hanging from them, we couldn't figure out if they were for sale or if someone just didn't remove the tags.
Wow the reviews were right this place is amazing. Food from buffet to Vegetarian Buddhist Feast off the hook! If you are staying in town or like us at the RV park eat here!
So the food was better than other Chinese buffets I have been to and even better than some sit down Chinese restaurants I have reviewed. There were like 16 entree choices white rice, fried rice and chow mein. Surprisingly there were at least 3 shrimp dishes I saw, so they are not all just cheap heavily breaded and fried pork and chicken dishes coated in sugary sauces.
Have only eaten at this location once in the past. In recent years it looked vacant. This last trip thru Fort Stockton I saw that the location was open again, but Im not sure if this is the same owners as before or even if the place changed names.
Price was average for a decent sized buffet, but felt this was a little over priced. There was no sushi on the buffet, and only about 8 entree items. The desert and salad bar were limited as well.
I got the sweet-n-sour chicken and it was fantastic! Great flavor, generous portion, probably the best I've had. Also, the staff/owner's were AWESOME! What a hard working family! Love this place!
We would definitely stop here again.
Expectations from a small Chinese restaurant was what I had when I came in. However for what it is this one changed that expectation. Service was quick and polite. The selection is expected to be small but it was all good and you had the main Chinese dishes when at a restaurant. The decor is nice as well and everything was very clean. Definitely a good stop when passing by quickly by Ft. Stockton
If I was passing thru Ft Stockton again and really craving Chinese I would consider it again, as there was nothing wrong, but nothing overly impressive either. However this may be the only Chinese food in a 100 radius.
