Stayed one night in a travel trailer. Nice big pull-through spots with full-hook up. They offer a Good Sam discount. Had no issues checking in and the staff was very polite and friendly. You can see the freeway from the campground but it wasn't too loud at all! There were a good handful of long-term residents too.
This was just a one night stop over on our way to Carlsbad Caverns so it was fine for that. Take a drive through the town of Fort Stockton. There's a short driving tour with historical sign posts in the older part of town. The center square has a grove of pecans that were dropping and people were out gathering them. Worth a stop.
Before we got to the office I told vehicle and the back of the motorhome were filthy. Filthy. With dust. Where you left without staying. Had to stop and clean the camera off the back of the motor home because I could not see out of it. What a dump. When you have a nice motorhome, and pay $400 to wash and wax, why would you want a dust bucket for an RV park. Do not stay here if you care about the appearance of your vehicle.
This park is a great example of how attention to detail (or lack thereof) can turn an otherwise wonderful experience into a 3-star event. I visited this park in March 2017 and was greeted warmly in an office/well-stocked RV Store, which was connected to their restaurant. I got a pull-thru and it was tight getting in. I made sure to allow room to navigate around a post on my front right, for exiting. I awoke at 4am to discover a full-timer had parked their car right across the one-lane alley from me. I was forced to back-out at 4:30 am, without a guide - you don't knock on a trailer door in Texas at oh-dark thirty... This was on the tail end of a two-month cross-country, so it wasn't lack of experience or planning on my part. The car had no business being there. Period. The restaurant was lovely and the food was wonderful. I was ready to give five stars to an isolated desert gem before this hassle. Just grateful I didn't scrape paint with another rig on my way out the door. If you have a choice, make sure the site you get has a clear exit that can't be obstructed by an unthinking neighbor. This park is TIGHT!
Nice RV park to stop at. Easy check in, spacious sites with full hook ups and cable TV. Reasonable price. The Roadrunner cafe is an added bonus! Try the chicken fried steak!
